Why is PUSH silent?

PUSH stays silent until it is activated. The first time you open it, it takes you to sign in with your account; after that it checks in at most once a day and runs for 30 days without a connection.

Why does Windows warn me about the installer?

There is no Authenticode certificate yet, so the Windows installer is unsigned. Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”; choose More info, then Run anyway. The macOS installer is signed and notarised.

Does my licence run on two machines?

Yes: one licence covers you on 2 computers. For a third, free a seat first, either in PUSH on the old computer with Deauthorize or in your account under “Your computers”, then activate PUSH on the new one.

My studio computer is never online. Does that work?

Yes, by file. PUSH writes a device file in its licence window; upload it on a computer with internet in your account under “Activate offline”, and you get a licence file back to load into PUSH. The studio computer never needs a connection. Such a licence is permanent and cannot be released again.

An update does not seem to have arrived

Check which format your DAW loaded. On macOS some DAWs prefer the AU over the VST3, Studio One for one. New versions are in your account and on the download page, and PUSH tells you once when there is one.

Where are my presets?

On macOS in ~/Library/Application Support/Form DSP/PUSH/Presets/, on Windows in %APPDATA%\Form DSP\PUSH\Presets\. Sub-folders appear as sub-menus in the library, and the main menu opens the folder for you. Uninstalling leaves them in place.

What happens when the trial expires?

After 14 days PUSH goes silent again until you buy a licence. The output meter goes quiet with it, so you can tell nothing is broken. Nothing else changes; your projects keep their settings.

Why does so little happen on quiet material?

The knee threshold is fixed. On quiet material PUSH is mostly an amplifier. There is no sharp operating zone. The effect depends more on the crest factor of your material than on its level.

Why does TP SAFE do nothing on my material?

Because your material probably has no inter-sample overshoot, and that is normal. Overshoot comes from energy near Nyquist. Band-limited material (resampled loops, sample packs with capped bandwidth) barely produces any: measured at +0.0001 dB, while sharp transients at an identical sample peak reach +4.42 dB. A switch that does nothing there is working correctly.

Is this a limiter?

No. PUSH shapes dynamics to create loudness and density. There is no internal limiter, by design. TP SAFE catches inter-sample peaks but is not a guaranteed true-peak limiter. For hard 0 dBTP compliance, keep checking at your output.

How much latency does it have?

Around 26 ms at 48 kHz, almost the same at every oversampling setting and with or without TP SAFE, because the look-ahead is always included. PUSH reports it accurately and your DAW compensates. For tracking while someone listens through PUSH, that is too much.
